The Gläserne Manufaktur - Showcase of Transformation & Innovation

Ambassador for Sustainable Mobility

Our journey began in 2001 with the Phaeton, the luxury class vehicle of the Volkswagen brand. Later, the Bentley was added temporarily. Because progress and change go hand in hand, we have been literally electrified since 2017: As the first all-electric production site, we have since brought people closer to e-mobility in all its facets. Until December 2020, the e-Golf rolled off the production line here. Series production of the ID.3 started in January 2021.

The heart of our company is automotive production. But in the course of the strategic realignment of our company, we dealt with much more. We are piloting new technology and production processes that will later be used in large-scale production. Autonomous driving is a mega topic: From the conversion of individual vehicles into data collectors to the testing of self-driving cars at the end of car production – in Dresden we are testing the topics of tomorrow.

Investing in the future

Since 2017, the Gläserne Manufaktur has been cooperating with external start-ups in various formats. Focus: Digitalization and AI topics for production and logistics. The "Future Mobility Campus" was opened in March 2018.

For a sustainable journey

Dresden's largest public and partly solar-powered e-mobility station was built in the manufactory's parking lot. In addition, one of the first Mobi-Points in the city of Dresden was built directly at the Gläserne Manufaktur.

Place of exchange and encounter

Last but not least, as an event location, we see ourselves as a place where future topics are discussed and promoted, as a forum for ideas in the mobility of the future and as a test laboratory for innovations.
