Commitment to the Future

The Gläserne Manufaktur is not just a production site and employer. Located right in the center of Dresden, it is part of the city’s social and cultural life and, as such, carries a responsibility for the future of the region.

As a Center of Future Mobility, we consider ourselves to be pioneers and trailblazers for electric mobility. We want to make life with electric mobility accessible for our visitors, and to help shape the automotive future of the city of Dresden with new mobility concepts and products. Our acceptance of our responsibility to the people of the region finds expression in our sponsorship and support of numerous projects and activities devoted to social well-being and cultural development.

Our employees make a lasting contribution, for example, through the “RestCents” campaign. For more than 15 years, they have been donating the cents after the decimal point on their salary statements each month. We use the money raised to support the Dresden sponsorship society for children and young people with cancer: Sonnenstrahl e.V.

Another annual initiative by the staff is the support of, and participation in, the charity runs for UNICEF Dresden.

Volkswagen also promotes cultural education and development with regional cultural projects and partnerships. Its involvement ranges from long-term partnerships with the orchestra Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden and the opera house Semperoper to its support of the Moritzburg Festival and the Dresden Music Festival.

Last but not least, the Gläserne Manufaktur has become a fixed component of Dresden’s cultural life with the open-air concert “Klassik Picknickt” – the fruits of a collaboration with the Staatskapelle Dresden – which has taken place every year on the lawn in front of the Gläserne Manufaktur for over ten years.
