Mobility for the last mile

Experience the ever-expanding world of micro mobility solutions

The Volkswagen Center of Future Mobility is extending its electric mobility experience with innovative vehicles on one or two wheels.

The focus is the so-called "last mile", i.e. distances and routes in cities that are often too far to walk, but which don’t require a car. The eBikes, Mono wheels and eScooters are designed for travelling between home and uni or the workplace, as well as for running small errands close by.

Together with the Volkswagen AG development team, partners from the region, and a start-up from Breslau, the Die Gläserne Manufaktur team has selected a number of promising technologies and concepts. Manufacturers include Ninebot, FOCUS, Scrooser and Retro Electro. The micro mobiles are presented alongside fully-fledged Volkswagen hybrid and electric vehicles, which will go into serial production from April. Visitors and customers will be able to experience the vehicles first-hand.

 

At the exhibition you can discover:

Mono Wheels

Self-balancing vehicles from Ninebot, Kingsong and Gotway. Following a short familiarisation period, riders can safely navigate on one or two wheels over a wide variety of road surfaces simply by shifting their weight. They can achieve speeds of up to 40 km/h and cover distances of up to 100 km.

 

eBikes

FOCUS electric mountain bikes for cross-country competitions, which leisure bikers can also use to get off to a flying start in the city. Founded by Mike Kluge, German Cyclo-cross champion and world champion, the origins of the sport date back to 1993. Together with the associated design brand, the sport now has a presence in over 60 countries.

Anyone who prefers something less complicated and suitable for everyday use will encounter the right “made in Germany” bike in the range offered by the traditional Kalkhoff brand.

 

Scrooser

Scrooser is a scooter weighing almost 30 kg with an electric motor to assist the rider. This can quadruple the push-off force and means this cool vehicle can achieve speeds of up to 25 km/h. According to the Dresden manufacturer, the battery will supply energy for up to a month for distances of one to two kilometres per day. The charging time is 1 to 3.5 hours.

 

eScooter

Upcycling: Retro Electro is producing modern electric two-wheel scooters based on classic designs from the 1960s and 1970s. Internal combustion engines are replaced by battery-powered electric motors. Using up to 80% recycled parts means both operation and production are extremely sustainable. Drive units with theoretical ranges of 30, 45 and 70 km (maximum speed of 35, 45 or 70 km/h) are currently available.
