Electric cargo transport
The blue CarGoTram is once again running along the tram network in the heart of Dresden. On board: assembly components for the e-Golf*.
The freight tram developed specifically for Die Gläserne Manufaktur is a feature of the Dresden cityscape once again. Behind the sophisticated concept is the aim is to avoid disrupting inner-city traffic and maintain the urban quality of life when delivering vehicle assembly components.
The pre-fabricated parts are delivered to the logistics centre in Dresden Friedrichstadt and transported from there three times a day to Die Gläserne Manufaktur using the cargo tram on the existing rail network. The 5.5 km journey through the city centre takes 25 minutes. The 60m long, 90-ton trains can carry the same load as up to three 18m trucks.
*e-Golf: electrical energy consumption in kWh/100 km: 12,7 (combined), CO2 emissions in g/km: 0 (combined), efficiency class: A+
