In September, the production vehicle celebrates its world premiere at the IAA. The study is now on permanent display in the Gläserne Manufaktur.

With the ID. Family marks the beginning of a new era of electric mobility at Volkswagen from 2020. For the first time, the brand brings a complete model family that is powered purely by electricity onto the road. As the first compact Volkswagen, the ID. is made up of the newly developed modular electric drive system, MEB for short. With the MEB, an increase in range, space, variability, comfort and dynamics can be achieved. The first production vehicle in this family will be the compact ID.3. It will roll off the production line in Zwickau, Saxony, around 120 kilometers from Dresden, from the end of the year. The ID. study can now be admired permanently in the Gläserne Manufaktur.

At the 2016 Paris Motor Show, Volkswagen launched the countdown to the future with the world premiere of the visionary ID. study. The compact and 125 kW ID. is a highly automated electric car based on the pioneering All-new Electric Architecture from Volkswagen. With one battery charge, the ID. distances of 330 to 550 kilometers. With this study, however, Volkswagen is looking even further into the future: in ID mode. The pilot drives the electric car fully automatically - this technology should also be ready for series production by 2025.
