Kapelle for Kids in the open air
Your host Julius Rönnebeck, Alma the doll with Magdalene Schaefer, and musicians from the Staatskapelle Dresden will take you on a musical journey. You’ll need to bring food and drink with you as guests of all ages can picnic on the Cockerwiese.
The partnership between Die Gläserne Manufaktur, the Semper Opera House and the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year. As is the CLASSICAL PICNIC, launched in 2008 as a prelude to this partnership. We would like to commemorate this anniversary with a very special CLASSICAL PICNIC. But a real Anniversary Party also calls for a special children’s programme. That’s why we’ve put together a very special "Kapelle for Kids" event.
Julius Rönnebeck and Alma the doll with Magdalene Schaefer look forward to taking you on a musical journey into the jungle. They will tell the story of Babar, the Little Elephant - which Francis Poulenc set to music and Jean Françaix transformed the musical template into an orchestral piece to be performed by the musicians of the Dresden Staatskapelle. Pack plenty of food and drink because this year you’ll be able to enjoy a picnic on the grass.
