THE PERFECT INTERPLAY
Just as musical virtuosity is an expression of masterful ability and technical skill, the Phaeton reflects precision craftsmanship and attention to detail. Together with the high quality they demand, these similarities form the basis for the perfect interplay between "the Staatskapelle Dresden" and “Die Gläserne Manufaktur”, which first began in 2001: Musicians from "the Staatskapelle Dresden" provided the accompaniment for the festive opening of “Die Gläserne Manufaktur”. After the staging of Carmen in “Die Gläserne Manufaktur” in the wake of the Elbe River flooding in 2002, two more concerts were performed, with the exceptional pianist Hélène Grimaud among others.
Since then, customers and guests to the factory have been able to enjoy highly sophisticated concerts in the transparent production site under the direction of well-known conductors such as Esa-Pekka Salonen, Vladimir Jurowski, Sebastian Weigle and Asher Fish.
Within the framework of its obligation, “Die Gläserne Manufaktur” supports "the Staatskapelle Dresden" in its work, be that in the Semperoper or on its world tours. One of the important roles here is making sure that the artistic and cultural interest of new generations is encouraged. As such, “Die Gläserne Manufaktur” is happy to offer its stage to both young and old during its “Kapelle for Kids” event series.
One special product of the partnership between “Die Gläserne Manufaktur” and "the Staatskapelle Dresden" is the open air concert A CLASSICAL PICNIC on the lawn outside “Die Gläserne Manufaktur”. The open air concert is a gift to all Dresden residents and their guests and invites you to enjoy the finest classical music with food in a casual atmosphere.
